2008 Ford Ironman World Championship Media Application
Media Credential Application Now Available Online

Ironman is now accepting applications from all media members interested in covering this year's Ford Ironman World Championship, taking place on Saturday, October 11, in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Journalists covering the event for media purposes are asked to submit a media credential application now available Online. All media credential applications will be processed Online and can be accessed by clicking the "Media Related Downloads" link in the "Media Center" section of Ironman's official Web site, www.ironman.com.
Only media with a letter confirming assignment from a managing editor will be granted media credentials. The application deadline for media credentials is Monday, October 6. As applications are processed, media will be notified of their access via email. All media granted credentials must secure those credentials no later than 4:00 p.m. Friday, October 10. Credentials can be secured in the Ironman Media Center located in Ballrooms 1 and 2 of King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel. The Media Center will be open Monday, October 6, through Monday, October 13.Media are encouraged to attend the Pre-Race Press Conference scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, in Ballroom 2 of King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel. Media will have the opportunity to interview last year’s top five male and female finishers, as well as several special interest age group athletes. The Post-Race Press Conference will take place on Saturday, October 11, in Ballroom 3 of King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel. The professional men’s press conference will start at approximately 6:30 p.m., with the professional women to follow at approximately 7:30 p.m.

About The Ford Ironman World Championship
The 2008 Ford Ironman World Championship marks the 30th anniversary of the Ironman Triathlon and is the culmination of more than thirty global Ironman events. The world’s toughest endurance event takes over 1,800 athletes along a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run. The swim starts and finishes at Kailua Pier, the bike takes cyclists along the Kona and Kohala Coasts and the run course travels through Kailua-Kona. Athletes finish their 140.6-mile journey to the cheers of more than 20,000 spectators on Alii Drive. More than 70,000 athletes vie each year for slots to the Ford Ironman World Championship. The 2008 Ford Ironman World Championship will air on NBC on Saturday, December 13, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET.
