So far, over half the allotted places have been assigned to athletes on the Pre registration list, so organisers are advising international athletes to get in quick to avoid disappointment. The 2007 Ironman UK Triathlon looks set to be the most successful year yet. Entries are currently 400 competitors up on previous years as hopeful athletes look to achieve their Ironman dreams in Dorset. The race is located at the historic Sherborne Castle in Dorset, 2 hours from London. The grounds boast two castles the first of which was destroyed in the civil war and the newest built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594. Near by is the attractive town of Sherborne, which is abundant with medieval buildings, and an impressive church Abbey, also close by is Montacute House where the film 'Sense and Sensibility' was set.
